Week 28: Rounding third…

Week 28 marks the official start of the third trimester! week-28-baby-bumpWe’re on the home stretch and are getting more excited, nervous, anxious and scared all at the same time. Most of all, we’re excited! She’s kicking more and more as she runs out of room in there – my belly gets very hard where she’s moving around too like I can stand here and touch her knee or foot or whatever part of her is stretching out my belly. So neat! I’m starting to play music and read to her at night. Quiet jazz music puts me to sleep, but not her. She’ll kick and dance even more when it’s time to go to bed or maybe it’s the fact that I’m finally still that I can feel her move more.

By this week, baby bazin weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through the womb. She’s also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. 28-weeks-chinese-cabbagePretty amazing stuff! And considering she’ll inevitably be a gym rat, she’ll burn off all that baby fat in no time.

We had our first house guests this week! Nick’s mom, Sue and Aunt and Uncle Bud and Evie came to visit on their way up to Illinois. We had a really nice spaghetti dinner, chowed down on some amazing chocolate cheesecake for dessert and hung out the rest of the night chatting and watching TV. max-swaddled

We were spoiled with house warming gifts and baby blankets galore for our little girl! Of course, I have to start practicing the swaddling technique so Max was the baby doll! So adorable! He was the perfect size too!

We’re also very excited to say that we chose the baby room theme/colors/bedding. cotton-tales-lizzie-bed-setAs some of you already know, in our new house the whole upstairs makes up the master suit so for the first 8 months or so we’ll have our little girl in our room with us so we are not forced to go up and down stairs during those crucial first months when she needs us the most. So for now the nursery will be in our room. Eventually she will move downstairs in her own room. So, we have no need to decorate an entire baby’s room just yet – but we are really happy with the bedding that we are getting and all the beautiful colors it has! It’s totally her personality!! I just know it. 😉 It’s called Cotton Tales Lizzie and the accessories are on our registry with Babies-R-Us. We love it!

We hope all your homes are peaceful and filled with love!
